Numerous succulents are native to the continent, and in the south the climate is similar to that of coastal and southern California. Aloe arborescens, native to South Africa, grows throughout Southern California; dense plantings of it rim the cliffs of coastal communities. California native plants are extraordinarily resilient to wildfires.

This is a relatively simple process, but it's important to be careful as the succulent has sharp spines that can cause severe injury and may also produce a toxic sap. Cut the leaf from the base with a sharp blade to prevent it from causing any damage to the rest of your plant. To remove the rotten roots, you should use a sharp knife to cut off the dead roots. One small cut can create a whole new jade plant with minimal maintenance. To prevent more infection, make sure you chop them all. The most obvious benefit is the fact that your succulents will grow faster.

Succulent plants can tolerate low light conditions, such as mood moss or sheet moss. Because of its extreme sensitivity to cold, kalanchoe thrives in a home where temperatures are between 60oF-85oF. You should ensure that the temperatures are at 45oF if you plan to grow them outside. Because of wind and breezes, outdoor areas dry soil slightly faster than indoor ones so they will need more water. The commercial soil is enriched with sand to aid in drainage.
