Everywhere in the world women live longer than men - but this was not always the case. The available data from rich countries shows that women didn't live longer than men in the 19th century. What is the reason women are more likely to live longer than men? Why is this difference growing as time passes? We have only a small amount of evidence and the evidence is not sufficient to draw an absolute conclusion. We are aware that behavioral, biological and environmental factors play a role in the fact that women have longer lives than men, but we don't know exactly how strong the relative contribution to each of these variables is.

In spite of how much amount of weight, we are aware that at least part of the reason why women live so much longer than men but not previously, has to have to do with the fact that some fundamental non-biological factors have changed. These factors are changing. Some are well known and relatively straightforward, like the fact that men smoke more often. Certain are more complicated. For example, there is evidence that in rich countries the female advantage increased in part because infectious diseases used to affect women disproportionately a century ago, so advances in medicine that reduced the long-term health burden from infectious diseases, especially for survivors, ended up raising women's longevity disproportionately.

The first chart below shows life expectancy at birth for علامات الحمل بولد men and women. It is clear that all countries are over the diagonal line of parity. This implies that a baby girl in every country can be expected to live for longer than her older brother.

This chart illustrates that, although there is a women's advantage in all countries, the differences across countries are often significant. In Russia women live 10 years longer than males. In Bhutan there is a difference of less than half a calendar year.

Let's examine the way that female advantages in life expectancy has changed over time. The chart below shows male and female life expectancies at the birth in the US during the period 1790 to 2014. Two distinct points stand out.

The first is that there is an upward trend. as well as women in the US live much, much longer than they did a century ago. This is in line with historical increases in life expectancy everywhere in the world.

Second, there's an increasing gap: The female advantage in terms of life expectancy used to be very small however, it has increased significantly in the past century.
