At lower right is a succulent native to Oregon: Sedum oreganum. Below: Becky wrapped a large, cold-hardy sempervivum Rosette around a small, smaller Sedum confusum and Delosperma Cooperi. Becky's compositions can overwinter outdoors in northerly climates (Zones 4 to 8), providing the potting medium drains well. The sun's ultraviolet rays can cause leaf damage if magnified through untreated windows.

However, pumice can be a bit more difficult to find, depending on where you live, and it can be more expensive than perlite.
