The original Sim City was straightforward and by today's standards, very medieval. The graphics were crude two dimensional blocks and the terrain itself was pretty unrealistic. But people stood a blast playing it. Whenever kept building onto your city, which in fact have to be exercised under certain basic rules, it became harder and harder take care of the it from crumbling below your nose.
