Carolyn Schaer moved with her husband Herb from New Jersey into Southern CA. Carolyn couldn’t wait to start a succulent gardening garden. The Schaer garden is located in Rancho Santa Fe's hills. It covers just over half an acres. One side of the Schaer gardens forms a privacy screening and is home to succulent trees, Brachychiton russestris (Queensland Bottle Tree). You don't have to use pesticides or insecticides. There are other products that you can use that are more beneficial for the environment. Still, there is a considerable number of herbivores that need food in the same desert.
