Take the succulent out its potting medium and repot into dry soil. This will allow the roots to dry out. The succulent can be planted outdoors or on windowsills. The cactus can grow slowly so they are best kept in containers while young. Euphorbia isn't found in the cactus family. Mushy leaves do not stick firmly to the plant. If soil particles are too dense, they can stick together in thick clumps that prevent water from running away. Rainfall is unlikely to stay around for long, regardless of whether it disappears through evaporation or drains via runoff.
