Cacti meet the aesthetic requirements and also have an edginess that makes them "not your grandma's succulents." A growing interest in succulent oddities has also led to windowsill gardens with an extraterrestrial aesthetic. Because the Agave plant has excellent resistance and can tolerate neglect, it is the most water-intensive.
