Why is my succulent turning a red color? If you see that the leaves are turning brown and looking limp and soggy, you are probably giving your plant too much water. You could have too much sun or a pest infestation. Although it is difficult to spot the actual bugs, they may be hiding under your leaves. Scale insects have no wings, so they don't cluster like mealybugs. The exception is the agave-snout weevil. It burrows into plants' centers and lays eggs there.
