Portulacariaafra, an exotic shrub succulent, was once the largest native South African plant. However its population has plummeted significantly since then due to sheep and goat overgrazing. Native to the grasslands of Lesotho and South Africa, the torch plant is a hardy succulent well adapted to living in arid areas. It is a Madagascarian native. Too much direct sun can cause damage to your plant. The nursery is located only a few kilometres from the coast, so this white-striped Agave can thrive in full sun. You may need to protect your skin from fine perlite.
