The best thing about these plants is their ability to thrive without requiring a lot in terms of care. Adromischus isn't cold-hardy so if you live somewhere that gets lower than 20deg F (-6.7degC), it's best for this succulent to be planted in a container which can be brought inside. No matter whether your kalanchoe is indoors or out, you should topdress it. Blue Spruce Stonecrop can survive in cold temperatures and will thrive outdoors at temperatures as low as -30F (-34.4°C). Becky's compositions are able to overwinter outside in northern climates (Zones 4-8) if the potting medium drains well. If untreated window glasses are not used, ultraviolet rays from the sun can be magnified and cause leaves to burn.

Pumice is more difficult to find depending on where you live and can also be more costly than perlite.
