Root rot could potentially cause the death of your succulent. A lot of people believe that too much water will eventually cause the death of a plant. Water lightly every few days until the new plant has taken and is growing well. The environment and growing conditions also play a major role. This is necessary for extreme cold areas. However, by doing this you could be creating conditions that will prevent your plants from blooming. The Stenocereuspruinosus, like most other species, is adapted to hot climates due to the conditions in its native area.
