There are three main methods to grow succulent plants, cacti and bonsai: in pots; as bonsai; or directly in the ground. There are many nursery plants and cuttings that can be used to plant the cacti in the ground. Add some planting mix to the ground if it is difficult or impossible to dig. Mixing soil with coarse sand can create a sandy soil mix that allows for good drainage. You can also buy special succulent soil. 7. Rework the soil. Turn it over, remove roots clumps, and then mix in compost. Although you don't have to take out stem cuttings, you can still use them for propagation. A dry creek bed or path can be added (optional).
