Your succulent's lower leaves will eventually dry out and become dead. The type of water you use for your Kalanchoe determines how well and healthy your plant will be. You might be the type of gardener who prefers slow-release fertilizer pellets over liquid plant food. Dracaenas need no fertilization. They can cause diseases, rot and decay to other plants. They can also reduce their attractiveness and encourage diseases or pests to grow. Haworthia.turgida does not like cold temperatures so it is best to bring your succulent indoors. Your succulent will thrive if you regularly remove the leaves. To use this method, you need to clean the special gardening sheers well and remove a leaf from its parent plant.

Make sure your scissors or shears are clean before pruning to prevent your succulents from getting a disease. When planting succulents, a common error is to place the succulents in the pot. The pot was too large and the rim too thick. You can also find these adorable minimalistic ceramic pots or this festive cactus plant pot. You now know how to select the right container for succulents. Are you planning to repot some plant babies? The wreath will be assembled in the next week. For now, the cuttings are on a piece wood with paper towels so that I can water them. Your arrangement now looks wonderful! The base plants will eventually shed their old growth and you can still use them in the arrangement. I pulled out the base plant as it was not doing well. I also pulled a Crassulaperforata out of the box that was struggling. (Off to one side in this image). I was almost overcome with joy as I carefully took them out of the box.

There are many different types of succulents, echeveria species and I was unaware of the fact that there were so many. Leaf propagation seems a bit more difficult and takes a longer time for me. I've been seeing beautiful wreaths on the front doors lately and wanted to make my own. If your cutting has curving ends, it might be worth cutting them off to have a straight edge to place in the soil. I always try to work with straight stems when I'm using cuttings. Water propagation can be described as using water to grow succulent cuttings. If the solid crumbles in your hards to reveal just a couple of root strands, then the roots are not well established. I am anxious for them to root. However, it won't hurt if they root a bit before the wreath can be assembled. The Cotelydon itosa and Crassula peforata were a little outof control at the back.

They come with a slot that you can insert your hand into. The palm side is covered with bristles measuring 3 cm. These bristles ensure optimal interlocking of the spines with the cacti. Crested Euphorbia do not have any specific soil requirements beyond the basics needs of most succulents. If euphorbia stenoclada might get a spot in your home, we hoped that you were able to take good care of it better. There are times, as you saw above, when repotting will actually be better for your plants and will give them a chance to spread out and grow more. Spring and autumn are good times to revise your succulent arrangements and give them a freshening up. See if anything needs a little touch up or extra plants, then... I have high hopes for this wreath so I think it will take me a little while to decide just how I want to arrange it. A baseball plant's diameter can range from 6 to 15 centimeters. Always protect your plant during intense sunlight. The plant will continue to thrive in indirect sunlight for several months or years before it must be pruned again.

Give it another good stir and allow it to dry for a while before you apply the top dressing. Give the arrangement a final inspection after adding the top dressing. Storing them throughout the winter won't be much different from any other indoor arrangement. I generally prune my succulents in the spring after they've been growing indoors for the winter. Ponytail Palm favors succulents due to its ability water store in its bulbous trunk. This is a great option to get more plants. Don't water your arrangement for at least a day to allow the roots and plants time to heal and adjust. You can then finish the arrangement with a top dress. The Sansevieria is an excellent choice if you are looking to add a new plant to your living room or office. Take a look at the before/afters in the video below to see how removing dead leaves and adding top dressing made a huge difference for these arrangements. You'll soon notice new leaves sprouting from your cuttings if your propagation was successful. Daniel sent me cuttings almost a year back, and they were fantastic! They are now only 1/4in tall after the first year of planting.
