This succulent is a Kenyan native, but it can only be found in a small area near the border to Tanzania where it grows prolifically and wildly. The branches are also spiny, and the leaves are small and round. Even though the pot is small, the evaporation can be high and the pot can hold very little water. Succulents do not require water as often as other houseplants. This allows you to have two plants at once. The bottom is the rootstock and the top, or scion, is the actual moon-cactus.
