Succulent fertilizer does not have to be applied. It will only help the plant grow. If you do it in a timely manner, your succulent will forget about it and continue growing. When your succulent is healthy, you will see offsets grow from the parent. During this time, the plant only focuses on recovering from the stress of the growing season and preparing for the next flowering season. Overwatering is a major reason your snake plants will die. Keep the soil moist, but not dry. This information will help you care for your plant from its growth to when it flowers. I was there to photograph Altman's spring succulent introductions---new beauties now available (or soon to be) through Monrovia and other distributors, and also via Altman's online mail-order nursery. You should take care not to expose Christmas cactus that shoots needles plants to extreme cold or frost. Echeveria elegans (and a few other species) are not able to grow in cold climates. While some Agave and Yucca plants can tolerate temperatures below freezing for a few species, most succulents can't withstand cold weather unless brought inside or protected. If you take good care of your Sempervivum plant, you will get many offsets every year. How can you care for it so that the stunning flowers bloom? There is no shortcut to maintaining and keeping healthy plants as they require ample care and attention. This is great if you don’t have the space for adjustable legs on your shelf or if your plants have reached the maximum height of 16 inches. Some plants don't bloom, but others are still stunning in their own way. If your soil seems to be damp or wetter than normal between waterings, it is time to re-pot the plant in a pot that has good drainage and a better potting soil. It is not the right time to get a new, adorable pot that doesn't have drainage holes. To water our cacti we use the "soak-and-dry" method. We pour water on the soil until the drainage hole is full.

You can then water them using the same soak and dry method you use with mature specimens. Once you've checked the water levels, wrap the container in plastic. This can be done by adding water to the container and fertilizing it with fertilizer. If your succulents live indoors, you can adjust the watering schedule accordingly.
