For a series of video adventures about succulents, Annie Schreck (on-air host, researcher at Mountain Crest Gardens) will be joining me. Mountain Crest Gardens nursery, to which I am proudly associated, is the largest mail order succulent supplier. Aloe barberae (also known as Aloe bainesii and Aloidendron barberae), Africa’s largest aloe vera is stunning, dramatic, and sculptural. Jeff explained that when a wildfire destroyed his previous home in 2008, it also damaged a large Aloe barberae. Although nurseries might sell boxesed, rooted specimens for thousands of dollar, Aloe barbarae can be started from cuttings.
