Why are women living longer than men?
Everywhere in the world women live longer than men - but this was not always the case. The available data from rich countries shows that women didn't live longer than men in the 19th century. What makes women live much longer than men today and how have these advantages gotten bigger over time? We only have partial evidence and the evidence isn't sufficient to support an informed conclusion. Although we know that there are biological, behavioral and environmental variables that all play a role in women who live longer than males, we aren't sure what percentage each factor plays in.
We know that women are living longer than men, regardless of their weight. But this isn't because of certain non-biological aspects have changed. What are these changing factors? Some are well known and relatively straightforward, like the fact that men smoke more often. Others are more complicated. For example, there is evidence that in rich countries the female advantage increased in part because infectious diseases used to affect women disproportionately a century ago, so advances in medicine that reduced the long-term health burden from infectious diseases, العاب زوجية especially for survivors, ended up raising women's longevity disproportionately.

The first chart below shows life expectancy at birth for men and women. We can see that all countries are above the line of parity diagonally. This means that a newborn girl from every country could anticipate to live longer than her younger brother.
This chart shows that, while there is a female advantage in all countries, the differences across countries can be substantial. In Russia women are 10 years older than men, while in Bhutan the difference is less than half a year.

In countries with high incomes, the advantage of women in longevity was previously smaller.
Let's look at how the female advantage in longevity has changed with time. The following chart shows male and female life expectancies at birth in the US from 1790 to 2014. Two points stand out.
There is an upward trend. Both men as well as women in the US have a much longer life span longer than they did a century ago. This is in line with historical increases in life expectancy everywhere in the world.
The gap is growing: العاب زوجية Although the female advantage in life expectancy was once very small, it has increased substantially over time.
It is possible to verify that the points you've listed are applicable to other countries that have data by selecting the "Change country" option in the chart. This includes the UK, France, and Sweden.
