Continue to water your new succulent as you would all of your other plants until next spring or summer when it becomes time to propagate some more pups. It needs to sit in the water for at least 24 hours, though a little more would be better. You will need to wait two weeks before watering a newly planted barrel. To water from the bottom, place the plant on a tray or in a shallow dish with water. Allow it to sit for about 2 or 3 inches. You can use it as a side dish, or to add to salsas and tacos. Use young pads approximately 4-8 inches long for Mexican nopales. The garden also has an outdoor table and an arched fountain that features blue, white, and yellow Mexican tiles.
