When frostbite occurs, your succulents will rot more quickly if they are not watered soon enough. Monocarpic succulents end up dying because they are unable to flower. These succulents can become very difficult to remove or prune when they get too big. A 12-inch container is all you need to make this easy and colorful succulent garden. You can save and reuse cuttings, but you will need to remove them from the decorated object and start again. Other cacti begin as spherical, but eventually become cylindrical. Some (collectively called ceroids), turn into tall, spiny column-like cacti. The problem is that homeowners often underestimate how large this species becomes over time. Agave americana, also known as the Century plant, grows much larger than most homeowners realize. Due to the intrinsic crowding of limited resources, competition becomes fierce.

Do not put a layer of pebbles, activated charcoal or other materials on the bottom if you are using a nondraining container. They will assume that this "provides drainage." A microbial soup is formed when water pools in a potted bowl. This can lead to rot. They grow on top of one another in a rosette formation with larger leaves at bottom and smaller leaves at top. In some cases, you could even find some black spots, either on the stem or on the leaves. Some people believe that placing the stem slightly above water encourages the plant's ability to see the moisture and root. Because succulents draw moisture from their leaves, they can stay fresh for a long time without water. There are some downsides: It can be dangerous to grow succulents that are spiky. Some species of Agave or cacti are also capable of surviving in the coldest climates. It is often referred to as a weed by those who see it growing so many times. Watch my video before you plant Agave americana. Century plants (Agave americana) are easy to grow and quite common. You want to grow a large Agave, so it is better to buy one that does not pup, such as Agave Ovatifolia. Know how big your cactus might grow before you start planting. Lantana's leaves and flowers have an aromatic fragrance that attracts insects and birds, thus helping in desert pollination. Prevent these pests from attacking the leaves by using crushed up egg-shells or diatomaceous earth around the base of the plant. Even succulents can be damaged by fresh floral material. It is possible for spines to penetrate skin and can be difficult to remove. Cholla's translucent, needle-like spines can be seen in desert gardens. They glow brilliantly when backlit. These "pros" are the best things about potentially dangerous succulents. Spiny varieties glow beautifully when they're backlit. Detached plants can root quickly wherever they fall. The rosette gets longer with new growth. Lower leaves fall off when they dry. They produce orange flowers spikes, and their leaves are gray-bluish green. Some agaves do not have sharply pointed teeth or stiff leaves, but others can draw blood.
