Agave attenuata is the first succulent to show damage from frost in winter. A cooling period in winter is necessary to encourage better flowering. The plants that are native to the Americas (cacti and maples) or those that can withstand harsh winters like those in northern climates (sedums and Sempervivums) fare better than those grown in Madagascar and South Africa. The more sunlight your Kalanchoe gets, the better it will be. When you're done, the damage will be barely noticeable.
