The year prior, in 2010, my books' publisher had commissioned a video to accompany the release of Succulent Container Gardens. Keep frost out. Protect from frost. How to Plant a Succulent Container Garden (6:13 min., 400K views) is on Timber Press' channel. The resulting releases: Laura Eubanks' How to Create A Succulent Pocket Garden (12:37), 347K hits, and Laura Eubanks’ Succulent Flower Design Secrets (3,40 min.) are two of my most popular channels. Pat generously credits Laura Eubanks, the designer of succulent gardens, for her inspiration. Seven years ago I was struck by the skill of Laura Eubanks (a San Diego succulent designer) in explaining and demonstrating her methods. Since then, Laura has gone on to become a garden celebrity---deservedly so---and to create her own hugely popular YouTube channel. She also mentions "Make a Succulent-Topped Pumpkin," the YouTube how-to that Laura and I made back in 2013, when topping pumpkins with succulents was new. See my post on essential items for planting succulents to see this list. Not only will you be aware of the problems that you need to address, but also you'll be delighted at how beautiful your garden looks.

You can prevent sunburn by making sure the succulent gets at least four hours of sunlight each day. Even though the vigorous, low-growing species can survive on less than six hours of sunshine per day, it is important to make sure the succulent gets at least four hours of direct sunlight each day. Pat "fixed" her pumpkin using a dozen sprays of seed pods. Each spray measured between four and six inches. I found my new favorite succulent pumpkin on the Instagram feed of Pat Roach of Cerritos, CA. I love its loose, airy look, which came about, Pat says, because her original design needed something.
Pat mixed the colors of the pods with nandina pods using red, orange, green. There are many types of cactus plants. This will ensure that the plant doesn't strain for sunlight and helps to develop stunning colors around it. It's best to water in the summer when the plant is in its most active phase. A lot of succulents can be cut with standard-sized gardening shears and sturdy scissors. The Successfully Growing Succulents course explains everything and helps you to create the right schedule and system for your plants. This will give you the skills and confidence to ensure that your succulents thrive for many years to come. Each plant that you bring home will require extensive research to ensure it is taken care of properly.
The offshoot must dry before it can be planted in a well-draining area. The jade plant should be watered only when the soil has dried. This plant is used to dry and hot climates so humidity is not an issue. The toxic sap in this plant makes it unpalatable for most pests. Our staff includes the best plant experts, private succulent gardens, specialty nurseries, and designers. What would you recommend to a YouTube channel that is already thriving? YouTube is all a step-by -step guide to doing something. That's a no-no. YouTube is interactive, and it is social media. In comparison, watering with ice cubes means you'll have to take up space in your fridge to freeze water. YouTube videos can't be fixed unless they are deleted. This could result in lost views and comments. While the video's content was fine, I have noticed that there were neglected questions and comments. Right, so now that we understand that, how do we get more water and nutrients. Re-potting your button string plant should be done every three years. This will help to eliminate old soil and to replenish nutrients.
It instantly goes to work delivering much-needed nutrients to your plants, so you'll need to reapply as often as your plants need it. Before using the grow tent they seemed to always find a way to get to the plants and knock them over or touch the cacti, causing problems for both themselves and the plants. Hot glue makes these compositions simple to assemble. And because the squash remains intact (and succulents survive on moisture in its leaves), they'll last for several months. This photo is from my Succulents and Clamshell DIY Video. In my new DIY Succulent Teacup Gardens video, you'll watch me assemble five different type of succulents mini arrangements. I also show you how I made a teacup from a seed I planted 18months back. In my Zone 9b garden, you will find plant-pot pairings, holiday gift and project ideas, and favorite no-fail perennials. I used a happy assortment of cuttings taken from my garden for my three teacups.
It takes approximately a day to produce two to three minutes of finished video. A good amount of sunlight daily will keep plants healthy and vibrant for an hour to two hours. Additionally, I used two mugs---one as a vase filled with water for a bouquet, and the other as a pot for a mammillaria cactus. The cup's Mammillaria plumosa has nearly doubled in size! The content is free and dedicated to enhancing your appreciation and knowledge of succulents. To create a simple bouquet, place succulents in a mug. Aloe Vera is a succulent that has spreading roots. These roots can be used to grow other plants at your home. Check out our article: Can Succulents Survive at Work? to learn more. Succulents are fragile plants that can easily be damaged. For potted plants to thrive, they need good drainage soil.
7. You can clean any soil that may have gotten in contact with the saucer. For holiday cactus, potting soil should be made up mainly of organic matter. It really doesn't matter. What Time Do Succulents Flower? This article explains how to mix succulents in a blue-colored pot. The replanting pot is made by mixing soil with substrate and placing it in the pot that will receive the Haworthia new clipping. 3. The conical frame can be placed in a pot, with the broader side sitting inside the pot. View your garden through a picture frame, camera lens or hand mirror to change your perspective. No matter if you're creating a garden vertically or designing a hanging display of plants, any combination of these varieties is a great choice. Certain cacti varieties are just not meant to be tamed. Cacti can become fatal if root rot goes untreated for too long. Flowers won't grow and will need to be replaced, unlike cuttings.
