Importance of Dietary Supplements
Vitamins are required for regular operation of the body - Growth, Digestion & Nerve Function. Vitamins & Minerals are required in small and steady quantities and so they together form the micro nutrients necessary to maintain healthy body and mind.
There are two types of vitamins, Non-Essential and essential. Right now there are 13 vitamins which are Essential needed by the body which must be obtained through the meals we eat. The essential vitamins required by the body are Vitamin A, Pantothenic acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, Vitamin K, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Biotin along with Folic acid.
Vitamins are sometimes fat soluble or maybe water soluble. Water soluble vitamins are vitamins that are essential and are not stored in body in high amounts. Minerals enable entire body grow, develop and stay healthy.They assistance building strong bones and also in transmitting nerve impulses. Some minerals are also used to maintain regular heartbeat and also to make hormones.
Minerals can be classified into 2 groups mostly according to the amount required by the body as Macro-minerals and Trace minerals.
