Question: How Should I Price My Books So More Will Sell on Amazon?
Question: I discover that our Amazon listing costs must be at the bottom end of the price scale, or maybe our books do not sell. We upload to Amazon via HomeBase and also sell on ABE, Alibris, and Biblio. Can you clarify a decent pricing strategy for Amazon which is going to get us to the ten dolars to fifteen dolars cost range?
Question: I discover that our Amazon listing prices has to be at the bottom end of the cost scale, or the books of ours do not promote. We upload to Amazon via HomeBase and also sell on ABE, Alibris, and Biblio. Could you clarify a decent pricing strategy for Amazon which will get us to the $10 to fifteen dolars price range?
ANSWER: You are right, marketing widely available used books faster on Amazon Marketplace does depend upon being "visible" in the listings. So that usually means that having a cost low enough to be on the list of three lowest-priced listings displayed once the buyer clicks on used." and "new
ANSWER:
For scarcer books, I recommend pricing in the bigger range of available listings on Amazon Marketplace. I am referring to uncommon courses that you know (from researching similar listings on AddAll.com, for example) are worth over $40. If so, I suggest waiting out the lower priced competition on Marketplace.
Buyers that are shopping in this higher price range pay a lot more focus on the information in the listing, such as book condition, delivery options, and naturally the seller's feedback and apparent attention in writing the description. And so in that case you are competing more on reputation and service than just price. Lowball sellers on Amazon aren't particularly effective with higher-priced books.
Unfortunately, for more common publications which make up the vast majority of the device sales of yours, you are forced to become more competitive on price mainly because the customers are more uninformed and careless. While customers of the high-end books seem to go through each listing and place some thought into the choice of theirs, customers of the low end books seem to make a snap decision -- they do not consider much of anything except cost. I'm constantly mystified by these buyers who will invest in from a dealer with terrible feedback although the ebook is priced a penny less! In the end, why would you spend your hard-earned cash with a seller who has just eighty % favorable feedback? Common sense tells you it is a gamble, and there's a twenty percent chance you will be unhappy with the transaction.
I have managed to raise my average sale price over time by concentrating more on acquiring unique, specialized books. I believe, that means esoteric nonfiction, for sellers with additional expertise in fiction collectibles, it may mean first editions of great literature. Throughout the wholesale formula amazon years I've gotten way better at identifying books that are great and keeping the confidence to pay for them. When I started out I wouldn't spend more than $2 on any guide.
