What is the actual price of fitness? What's the real price of NOT working out? The actual pricing is more than dollars and cents. There are many other "costs" to contemplate in fitness, your health and well-being, functionality and happiness. Bob and I have expanded on a number of things related to the actual costs of exercising or perhaps not working out. Care to bet which side of the subject you will discover us? Continue reading - there is much more to consider:
Bob's Experience: I often hear folks say that they cannot improve their fitness because they can't pay for to get fit - they cannot afford to invest the cash on a club membership or a few easy supplies. Well ya know, we really, really cannot afford NOT getting into good shape and staying fit. And naturally the 50+/+Fit Quality of LifeStyle requires us to get healthy and be fit. Additionally, there's an actual financial argument for investing in our own fitness. For example, compare the price of fitness versus the price of medication.
It's been proven that being fit can greatly reduce, and also in some instances, remove the demand for some medication along with regular doctor visits for certain ailments. I've been really lucky, as I began a regular health regimen a few years back, I have not designed ailments or necessary medications as I age. These days, we should examine those expenses on the price of a health and fitness club membership - a club where we can work at boosting the fitness level of ours and stay away from too many common ills. For example, monthly fees at regular fitness clubs in Houston, will vary from around $20-1dolar1 100+, depending on the center and frills - plenty cheaper than the meds.
Or perhaps, compare the expense of very simple products we are able to make use of at home just like walking shoes, bands, a pre workout supplement good for diabetics (www.homernews.com) mat, little dumbbells, etc. There is very little comparison to the big bucks we were able to drop at the drugstore and in the doctor's office. It is remarkable!
And here is one last thought to contemplate. We really should not consider our fitness money as an expense, but as an asset in the good future of ours. By investing a few bucks into the health of ours, we'll not just save big bucks on medications as well as doctor visits, we will subsequently be able to turn around and spend all those saved dollars on savoring a great 50+/+Fit Quality of LifeStyle. Why? As we will be far better in a position to afford it - both financially and physically!
Ron's Expertise: Very correct - I speak to this every day at the gym. Being perhaps 15 % overweight which equals to 26%+ body extra fat for men and 32%+ for females puts one vulnerable for diabetes, cardiovascular diseases as well as certain kinds of cancer. A lot of the clients of mine who started with me while taking tons of prescription drugs have lost weight to a healthier body-fat portion, and so, have reduced or taken out their medications at their doctors' directive.
One specific client looks at mind... a male within his late 50's. He soon started with me at 38 % body fat. After the first season, he achieved 25 % body fat (just slightly in the appropriate range) and they have reduced the insulin intake of his by seventy five %. The objective of his is eliminating insulin completely - and he's still focused on losing weight! Another customer, female in her 60's when she started with me (yes, I said BEGAN - in her 60's! Proof it's never very late!) When she started, she was taking 2 different blood pressure/diuretic drugs, three diabetic drugs and three other medicines daily. The out-of-pocket costs of her happened to be more than $600 AFTER Medicare and Part D coverage. She is paying about $35 a month for the membership of her and about $250 each month (30 minute sessions, twice a week) to work with me, her personal trainer - and her prescription consumption has dropped by over fifty %. Oh yeah, she feels much better, stronger, fewer pains and aches and they have more energy while losing about 60 pounds since she began.
Additional bad monetary considerations include doctor's visits, hospital stays, surgeries, other treatments and lost time at work. Severe illnesses including heart attack or cancer have been noted to bankrupt families - truly those fortunate enough to have great health insurance. Another cost which cannot be easily calculated into real dollars will be the time lost from the daily life of yours. Being "laid up" with an illness usually prevents you from taking part in activities that you enjoy. You find yourself captive in your own home - or perhaps worse in a hospital or some other long-term health facility as well as cannot visit friends and family, attend a film or even your favorite restaurant. This could be the most compelling price of all. You might be alive however, not LIVING your life but as an alternative, merely surviving - and even in substantial pain or without the capability to take care of yourself.
