Any diet plan that even comes close to being healthy, will tell you to consume lots of vegetables.  But what kind of vegetables should we be consuming to have foods that hasten your metabolism?
As part of any balanced diet, eating most any type of vegetables will kick start your metabolism.  But, if you want to see the unwanted weight begin melting away, you will need to start thinking about calories.
To mainly understand what calories are, consider a calorie as nothing more than energy.
Any time you consume something, it doesn't matter what it is, it is going to give your body calories.  Whether it's a stalk of celery or a chocolate bar, everything provides us calories.  Our body has to take action with each one of these calories.  It will burn off them in case it needs some energy.  If no electricity is needed, they are stored as fat.
