Margee Rader's idea for this year’s mini-tree came from my book Succulent Garden Containers. Although a glass jar lid may look like ice, it can be used in any container. A shallow container will make the cutting look larger and more treelike. As the flower pot is already brimming, tight-packed arrangements will have a more finished appearance than their spaced-out counterparts. The succulents should look as though they were part of an undersea fauna or flora living in coral reefs. Fresh air is essential for succulents.
