Falling leaves are a common sign of a succulent experiencing too hot temperatures or being underwater. The best method is to wait until the offsets are at least half as big as the parent plant and then remove them with a sharp pair of secateurs. Remove a healthy leaf from the mother tree and ensure that no part is left behind. Some plants even produce chemicals that intentionally inhibit the growth of other plants (called allelopathic compounds, and the Mother of Thousands is one such offender).
